Travel Resources

When you travel Australia you need access to some travel resources. Here are my favourites to help you live, work and play in Australia.

Please note: Some of these suggested resources are affiliates I have joined. I joined them because I use them myself to help my own travels. If you book and pay through one of these resources I receive a small commission at no cost to you. It helps me maintain this website/blog. Thanks in advance.

Australia is serviced by a number of airlines including Jetstar, QANTAS, Virgin Australia, Tiger Air and Rex (Regional Express Airlines). It can be time consuming visiting physical travel agencies or every website of each airline. When I need a flight I compare what is available, the route and price on Skyscanner. It lets me do all this with a few clicks. Try it yourself.

When I am looking to book a bed in a hostel or a family room when I travel with my family I turn to the HostelWorld booking site. Here I can compare hostels and book what suits my budget and travel plans.

When I want more than a bed in a hostel I look to book a small hotel room or suite. Particularly if I am travelling with my laptop and need to work. My go to booking site for hotel accommodation whether it be budget to luxury is

Travel Insurance

To be honest, I don’t always take out travel insurance. Because I live here I am covered by Medicare and I have private health insurance. If I am taking a flight somewhere I usually take out travel insurance to ensure if my luggage is lost or my laptop and other equipment is stolen I will take out a policy to cover me for the period I am away from home. My go to website to get a quote for travel insurance is WorldNomads.

Transport & Tours

Many people purchase or hire a car, van or caravan to travel in and around Australia. When I need to hire a car I head to the AutoEurope car website.

I first did a Contiki tour of Europe where I met my partner. I'm not saying you will meet the partner of your dreams but Contiki is a great way to travel around Australia. Contiki have a number of tours to suit the time you have available as well as your budget.

To get you more off the well-worn beaten track you might consider a tour with Intrepid Travel. Check them out here.
